TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate programs are intensive four-week, 120+hour courses that prepare you for an entry-level teaching position worldwide.
TEFL certificates are offered by a variety of providers in training centers around the world. BridgeTEFL represents selected programs in order to provide a larger variety of TEFL training locations worldwide. Although the TEFL courses we represent may vary in content and structure, they all cover what are accepted as the essential topics in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Graduates of these programs will be issued a certificate of completion from the partner training center.
TEFL Course Description
TEFL graduates will finish the course with a better understanding of the English language, practical experience with a variety of teaching techniques, and confidence in the classroom. All of the TEFL programs we represent include essential course content, teaching practice with real language learners, classroom observation of experienced teachers, and several written assignments.
These comprehensive courses are designed for candidates with no previous English teaching experience, but are also suitable for those who have some experience but no formal training in the TEFL field.
TEFL Course Goals
By the end of the TEFL course, trainees will:
| |
• Acquire essential subject knowledge about the English language.
• Develop a range of practical skills for teaching English to adult learners.
• Know how to lead a communicative, student-centered class.
• Feel prepared to teach using a variety of materials and techniques. |
Admission Requirements
All applicants to the TEFL course must:
| |
• Be at least 20 years of age by course completion (18- and 19-year-olds
accepted at the center's discretion).
• Have a standard of education equivalent of that required for entry into higher education.
• Have native or near-native competence in both spoken and written English,
such that it permits them to follow the training with no problems. Non-native
speakers must communicate in English with few or no mistakes, and have a
minimum level of fluency roughly equal to a score of 6.5-9.0 on the IELTS,
79-120 on the TOEFL iBT, or 213-300 on the computer-based TOEFL. All
non-native speakers must complete an oral interview with a member of the
admissions staff before enrolling. |
