TEFL in La Paz, Bolivia
About La Paz, Bolivia
Located in western Bolivia, Nuestra Señora de La Paz (Our Lady of Peace), called simply La Paz, is Bolivia’s third largest city. La Paz is known for its Colonial cathedrals, museums, traditional markets and festivals, love of fútbol (soccer) and of course, its unique topography. Nestled in an Andean valley and surrounded by high mountains of the alitplano, or high plains of South America, La Paz has an altitude of about 13,000 feet above sea level, keeping the air crisp year-round.
From La Paz, you are centrally located to visit the many spectacular destinations throughout this ruggedly beautiful country, such as Lago Titicaca, which is the world´s highest navigable lake, as well as the otherworldly salt flats of Salar de Uyuni, or the Bolivian Amazon. You’ll also be just hours away from bordering countries of Peru and Chile, if you want to explore more of South America!
