TEFL Training Center
The TEFL training center is located in the historical town center, just a few blocks from the charming central plaza. Guzmán is known as one of the safest, cleanest, and friendliest cities in Mexico, and the presence of a large university and many higher-education institutions give the city a youthful and vibrant feel.
The center is fully equipped with air-conditioned classrooms, a computer lab and wireless internet, a student lounge, and a garden patio. Shopping centers, internet cafes, fine restaurants, excellent and cheap street food, and night clubs are all easily within reach.
Ciudad Guzmán, Mexico
Ciudad Guzmán is nestled snugly between two mountain ranges and overlooked by the extinct volcano, El Nevado de Colima, and its sister volcano, El Volcan de Fuego. Its location mid-way between Guadalajara and the sparkling Pacific Ocean makes Guzmán an excellent base for outdoor activities such hiking, climbing, camping, horseback riding, and soaking in thermal springs. Visitors can also explore the many beaches only a few hours away, or take the short trip into Mexico City for big-city excitement. On the weekends, locals can often be found socializing in the town’s clean and quaint central plaza, overlooked by a large and impressive stone cathedral.
Prior to the arrival of the Spanish, Guzmán was the pre-Columbian kingdom of Zapotlán, an indigenous name that refers to the plentiful fruits that grow in the area. The city has also produced many great Mexican artists, including the famous muralist José Clemente Orozco and the composer Consuelo Velazquez. Three pueblos mágicos lie within an hour of Guzmán: Tapalpa, Matzamitla and Comala. There are only 33 of these magical cities in all of Mexico, and they are denoted as such for the richness of their traditions, atmosphere and culture.
| Teaching English in Mexico
|
 |
There is great demand in Mexico for English speakers with a good command of the language to teach children and adults. Mexicans study English in school but don't often get the opportunity to converse with native English speakers. This is where you can make a difference!
There are many exciting locations where you can teach throughout Mexico, from beautiful beaches and colonial towns to traditional mountain villages. |
|
| Teachers typically work 5 days and 15-25 hours a week, and classroom size averages around 12 students. Salaries are modest, but the cost of living in Mexico is very low, allowing you to live a comfortable lifestyle. |
