TEFL Training Center
The training center in Florence is located in Piazza della Repubblica, just a short walk from the city’s most recognizable landmark, the domed cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, known as il duomo. The historic center of Florence attracts millions of tourists each year with a plethora of museums, gothic architecture, famous works of art, and historical plazas.
The school’s facilities include several multi-purpose classrooms, offices, a library, and a terrace overlooking the historical city center. Satellite TV, computers, and an ESL library are also available on the premises.
Florence, Italy
Known as the “Cradle of the Renaissance,” Florence is the capital of Italy’s Tuscany region and home to such famous sights as Michelangelo’s David, the fountain of Neptune, and the Uffizi Gallery. While in Florence you can browse the shops along the Ponte Vecchio bridge, or try the region’s excellent Chianti (red wine) and local cuisine. The famous il duomo is open to tourists, and offers fantastic views of the city. Florence also offers world-class shopping, and is home to many successful designers, including Salvatore Ferragamo, Roberto Cavalli, and Guccio Gucci.
Florence is a great base for exploring Italy’s inviting Tuscany region, where the vineyards, rolling hills, and small towns of the countryside provide a tranquil change of pace from the city. Tuscany is home to Pisa’s famous leaning tower and to Siena, a quaint and charming medieval city. For a day at the beach, you can head to the coastal town Viareggio.
| Teaching English
in Italy
|
 |
Enrollment in English language schools is increasing at a dramatic rate among Italians. Many international schools in Italy offer their entire curriculum in English, meaning teaching positions are available in all subject areas for native English speakers. Milan is considered a promising destination for English teachers, although small towns in Sicily and Sardinia, in the Dolomites, and along the Adriatic all have more than their fair share of private language schools and institutes. |
|
Additional work opportunities in Italy include English summer camps and freelance tutoring, although knowledge of Italian is an asset for the latter choice. Non-European Union citizens including Americans, Canadians, and Australians can all be found working in Italy. |

| The grammar classes have proved to be invaluable. The wonderful experience I had in Florence confirmed my decisions and abilities. I also found that I enjoy teaching and have the ability to do it, which, as I am working at phasing out my current profession, gives me direction and confidence. |
