CELTA Training Center
The CELTA training center is located in Colonia Condesa, this neighborhood dates back to the turn of the 20th century. Lovely homes from that period, as well as modern buildings and parks can be found in this area. The school consists of a colonial building which has 10 classrooms, a beautiful terrace where students can sit to enjoy time together, and two computer rooms which allow students and teachers to have access
to the internet.
Mexico City
Mexico City has been and continues to be Mexico’s very heart as well as the historical and cultural capital of the Americas. Since its foundation by the Aztecs in 1325 it has been a meeting place for diverse cultures.
Like most cosmopolitan cities, Mexico City offers a wide variety of cultural events, shopping areas and tourist attractions. During your stay, visit the museums to see some amazing collections that depict the evolution of Mexico’s art and history, from the pre-Hispanic era to present day. If shopping is your thing, the city has numerous bazaars, plazas, malls and exclusive boutiques where you’ll find crafts, brand-name clothes and jewelry. In the neighborhoods of Coyoacan and San Angel, you can enjoy a bohemian atmosphere, while in Santa Fe and Polanco you’ll experience the glamour of the boutiques and modern hotels.
Teaching English in Mexico
Yes Mexico City is crazy, yes the traffic has found new and creative ways to congest itself and yes you will see more people in one day than you did in a year in your home town, but with the amount of art, the amount of people, of culture and the thrill of belonging to a city in which no one belongs has its rewards as well.
Teaching classes both lets you meet interesting people, people who have advanced and have insights in a society much unlike your own, and forces you to travel and know the city as a regular commuter. As well as this, comparative to the rest of Spanish-speaking Latin America, Mexico offers a much better economic situation to English teachers, which is always an important consideration to any job seekers or people thinking of starting a new profession. |

| “My CELTA experience at International House in Mexico City was fantastic! It was fun, exciting and stressful, but always rewarding.
The support of the tutors really made the course great. You are expected to do a lot of work during a short period of time, and without this support it could be a long and painful experience. The members of staff on the front desk at IH are also friendly and encouraging, and are willing to help you whenever they can.
I found the teaching practice really enjoyable from the start and the constructive teaching feedback improved my skill dramatically.
I would recommend this course in Mexico City to anyone who has a passion for people and teaching, but be prepared to work really hard. It is a wonderful experience but it’s far from easy.

| “I had a great time studying the CELTA in Mexico City. I was a little bit nervous about moving to a new country and one of the most populated cities in the world. Also, hearing all the stories of how stressful the CELTA course could be didn’t help. However, during the course, I had two brilliant teaches (Orlando and Edna) whose differences complimented each other and made the course extremely enjoyable. I’m not going to lie, there was a lot of hard work and there were some stressful times, but it was all worth it and by the end of the course I was really happy with what I had achieved and my final result. I also feel really lucky to have met such an interesting group of people while I was studying, some of whom will be friends for a long time to come.” |
